Relative Grade

A relative grade, also known as a curved grade, refers to a grading system in which students' grades are determined based on their performance in relation to their peers' performance rather than a predetermined standard.

In a relative grading system, the distribution of grades is adjusted based on the overall performance of the class. For example, if a class performs exceptionally well, higher grades may be assigned to more students, while if the class performs poorly, grades may be adjusted downward.

The goal of relative grading is to ensure fairness and equity in evaluating students' achievements, regardless of the overall difficulty of the assessment.

Relative grading is often used in courses where the content or assessments are particularly challenging or in large classes with diverse student populations.
